Security forces revealed details of an armed raid on a jewelry store in Revda.
The press secretary of the Sverdlovsk regional headquarters of the Interior Ministry, Valery Gorelykh, described the details of the brazen armed raid on the "Golden Fish" jewelry store in Revda.
The investigative unit of the local Department of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case against three residents of Yekaterinburg.
— The robbery at gunpoint at 33 Chaikovskogo Street was carried out on the evening of August 27 just before the store closed. Three young Ural "gangsters," born in 2003, wearing masks, burst into the service area, intimidated the manager with a "piece" and a hammer, and then stole 32 display trays with jewelry from the glass showcase, totaling about 9 million rubles. They hid the haul in a large black bag. Trying to flee with a sizeable score, the criminals ran to a Mercedes parked in the yard. But the crooks did not get to enjoy a beautiful and carefree life. Hot on their heels, during a successful special operation, representatives of the Interior Ministry, the National Guard and the FSB detained the bandits, Colonel Gorelykh noted.
It turned out that the perpetrators, having arrived in Revda, had been preparing for the attack for a long time.
— Before carrying out the deed, the members of the criminal group spent three days selecting a target, sleeping right in the cabin of a foreign car. None of them had prior convictions. One works at a machine-building plant, the second is a student at a machine-building college, and the third is officially unemployed. The detainees told investigators from the criminal investigation unit that their craving for expensive shiny "baubles" was explained by an acute need for money and allegedly accumulated debts. The gang detained by the police also has a similar criminal episode on its record in the capital of the Middle Urals, where a tobacco shop was previously robbed. Paragraph "b" of part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery committed with the threat of violence dangerous to life and health, on a particularly large scale, with illegal entry into premises), under which the Interior Ministry's investigation opened the criminal case, provides for punishment of up to 15 years' imprisonment. The stolen jewelry, as well as an object resembling a pistol with a silencer and other pieces of physical evidence, were seized by the investigators. The detainees are now "resting" from their everyday financial worries at a well-known regional "resort" called the pre-trial detention center (SIZO), Valery Gorelykh concluded.
