In Serov, the boom of a tower crane pierced the head of a 57-year-old man. The injured man was taken to hospital in serious condition. There it was found that bone fragments had damaged his brain, the press service of the Sverdlovsk Ministry of Health reported.
"Thanks to the consolidation of the '03' service and the creation of an inpatient emergency care department, we were able to establish a 'seamless' transfer of the patient from the receipt of the call to resuscitation measures," the ministry's press service quotes Ivan Boltasev, chief physician of Serov City Hospital.
The man was then hospitalized at City Hospital No. 1 in Nizhny Tagil. There, a team of neurosurgeons led by Dmitry Nevolin removed bone fragments and hematomas and restored the integrity of the dura mater. Modern technologies and the quick response of the medical staff made it possible to save the patient's life.
The man has already completed a course of rehabilitation and was discharged from the hospital. His speech and limb motor functions are recovering, writes Ura.Ru.
