A Yekaterinburg director was accused of violence and of humiliating employees. Earlier, female employees had complained about sexual harassment.
Former employees of the Center for Contemporary Dramaturgy (CSD) in Yekaterinburg accused director Anton Butakov of psychological abuse and humiliation. According to the performers, the theatre introduced a system of fines, which made employees' salaries less transparent.
"Anton would humiliate people, and if we answered him, he would fine us without warning. He could simply write in the group chat that some people would receive less money," former CSD employees told the Telegram channel "Caution: News."
The performers had initially agreed to a small salary for the sake of the idea, but about two years ago, after one actor's disciplinary violations, a system of fines was introduced. In addition, Butakov often insulted staff as "degenerates" and "mentally retarded," threatened them with dismissal, and generally behaved aggressively.
A year and a half ago, employees dared to voice complaints publicly, but the director explained his behavior as a "special style of leadership." Workers also complained about excessive workloads, a ban on side jobs, and rehearsals being rescheduled for Butakov's personal reasons. The director declined to comment to the Ura.Ru agency, citing a heavy workload.
Earlier, Butakov was accused of sexual harassment and abuse of his official position by former female employees of the CSD. The director himself denies all the allegations.
