The Yekaterinburg mayor’s office announced a tender to supply the city with 50 more trolleybuses.

As part of the transport reform, the Yekaterinburg Administration announced a competitive procurement for another 50 trolleybuses with extended autonomous range.

This will be the third major purchase of trolleybuses since 2023, reports the unofficial Telegram channel of the mayor’s office, “Yekaterinburg. The Main.”

“Thanks to it we will replace 100 percent of the trolleybuses operating in the city,” the Telegram channel’s message says.

According to the technical specifications, the trolleybuses must accommodate more than 90 people, have contactless fare payment devices, video surveillance, air conditioning, folding ramps (for passengers with reduced mobility), be equipped with smartphone chargers and other amenities.

The supplier will be determined based on the results of the competitive procedures. The new vehicles must be delivered by March 1, 2026.

In December 2022, the head of Yekaterinburg, Alexey Orlov, noted that at that time the average age of a trolleybus in Yekaterinburg was over 25 years.

Recall that at the end of November 2024 the first two (of the 50 purchased) low-floor trolleybuses with autonomous operation capability, model “Sinara-6254,” arrived in Yekaterinburg. Each vehicle accommodates 90 people. The contract for the supply of 50 trolleybuses from the Sinara Group was signed in October 2024. In February of this year all 50 trolleybuses were delivered to the Ural capital.

Earlier, Yekaterinburg received 50 new trolleybuses manufactured in Belarus. In addition, Yekaterinburg bought one new trolleybus manufactured in Vologda.
