The circumstances of the fatal road accident that occurred early this morning near Kamyshlov are being established by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Federation for the Sverdlovsk Region.
The accident occurred on Monday, October 6 at around 6:00 a.m. at the 11th kilometer of the “Kamyshlov — Irbit — Turinsk — Tavda” highway, within Kamyshlovsky District. According to preliminary information, the driver of a Volvo, traveling from the direction of the Yekaterinburg–Tyumen road toward Irbit, failed to maintain a safe distance to an MTZ tractor pulling a trailer ahead and collided with it. He then veered into the oncoming lane, where he collided with a Peugeot Boxer van.
As a result of the accident, the Volvo driver, a 52-year-old resident of Sukhoy Log, died before medics arrived. The driver of the Peugeot Boxer was taken by ambulance to the surgical department of Kamyshlov hospital.
It was established that the deceased man had 34 years of driving experience and had been subject to administrative penalties for traffic violations six times. The driver’s condition at the time of the accident will be determined by the results of a toxicological examination.
The MTZ tractor driver, a 48-year-old resident of Kamyshlov, was deprived of the right to operate vehicles in 2025 under Part 1 of Article 12.8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle while intoxicated). According to the results of the examination, he was sober at the time of the accident. A report was drawn up against the tractor driver under Part 2 of Article 12.7 of the Code (for operating a vehicle while deprived of the right to drive).
The driver of the Peugeot Boxer, a 29-year-old resident of Irbit, has 11 years of driving experience and 18 traffic violations. Administrative materials were prepared against him under Part 2 of Article 12.3 of the Code (for lack of a vehicle inspection) and under Part 1.1 of Article 12.5 of the Code (for lack of a trip sheet). His examination for intoxication will be carried out at the medical facility where he is hospitalized.
