In Yekaterinburg, a teenager was denied boarding a bus based on passport data from "Gosuslugi".

In Yekaterinburg, at the Southern bus station, a 16-year-old girl was removed from an intercity bus bound for the settlement of Oktyabrsky because she did not have her passport. The teenager tried to confirm her identity by showing the ticket inspector the data from the Gosuslugi portal, but that proved insufficient. E1.RU reports.

According to witnesses, when boarding the girl presented her ticket and showed her passport details in electronic form, but the ticket inspector refused to let her board. Nevertheless, the passenger still took her seat in the cabin, but was soon forced to leave the bus under the threat of security being called. The fare, according to the girl's mother, was never refunded.

Lawyers note that in some cases data from the Gosuslugi portal can indeed be used in place of the original document; however, this rule does not apply to boarding intercity buses.

The administration of the Southern bus station explained that the ticket inspector acted in accordance with a 2020 government decree. According to the document, a passenger purchasing a personalized electronic ticket is required to present the original identity document when boarding.

The Sverdlovsk Regional Association of Passenger Transport clarified that presenting digital data from Gosuslugi is not permitted when boarding a bus.

"Boarding with personalized tickets at Yekaterinburg's Southern bus station is possible only upon presentation of the original identity document. Electronic confirmation via the State Services portal is not acceptable in this case," the official response to the media says.

Representatives of the association noted that the process of digitalization is developing rapidly and said they would contact the regional Ministry of Transport with a proposal to expand the list of cases in which Gosuslugi data can be equated with original documents.
