The new children's ombudsman in Sverdlovsk Oblast is Tatiana Titova, an associate professor in the Department of International Law at the Ural State Law University, Kommersant-Ural reports.
Tatiana Titova replaced Igor Morokov, who had held the post of the region's children's ombudsman since 2010. Governor Denis Pasler proposed to the Legislative Assembly deputies that Titova's candidacy be approved for a five-year term.
In a closed vote, 41 deputies voted "for" and one voted "against." Two ballots were declared invalid.
As Igor Morokov told Kommersant-Ural, his contract expired in October. According to him, Titova must prevent a "crossing of boundaries" by the state. "God forbid we fall into total control of families; under no circumstances should that happen — it would be a dangerous situation," he warned.
Earlier in October, in a conversation with the EAN agency, the future children's ombudsman mentioned that she intends to address the issue of gangs of underage train-surfers at Vtorchermet.
