A Sverdlovsk deputy who led a school for 35 years has died.
A 74-year-old deputy, Evgeny Bukreev, has died in Sverdlovsk Oblast. His death was reported by the region's Legislative Assembly, where he had worked for four years.
Evgeny Mikhailovich was born in Kirovgrad into a working-class family. He began working while still at school, serving as a senior Young Pioneer leader. He served in the border troops on the Soviet–Chinese border, received the "Excellence in the Border Troops of the USSR" badge, and enrolled in the Sverdlovsk State Pedagogical Institute.
In Kirovgrad he rose from a Komsomol worker to head of the culture department of the city executive committee. With his involvement, the House of Culture in the settlement of Polovinnoye and a new central library were built in the town and district, a historical and local history museum was opened in Verkhny Tagil, and the city park's operations were put in order. Evgeny Bukreev was recognized as an honorary citizen of Kirovgrad.
He also headed School No. 3 in his city for 35 years, during which time he received the title "Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation" and the badge "Excellence in Public Education." He was active in politics, being elected deputy of the Duma of the Kirovgrad Urban District for seven convocations; in 2021 he became a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Sverdlovsk Oblast, E1.RU reports.
