Forecasters promised Sverdlovsk residents an anomalous November.
October in Yekaterinburg turned out unusually mild — the whole month passed without snow, and the last week was marked by temperatures several degrees above the climatic norm. However, with the onset of November a cold front will arrive in the Urals.
The chief meteorologist of the Urals, Galina Sheporenko, said that on November 1 there will be little precipitation, mostly in the form of wet snow. Then, as the cyclone moves eastward, Arctic air will begin to flow into the region, which will raise atmospheric pressure and bring a light frost. The likelihood of precipitation on November 2–4 is small.
According to the Russian Hydrometeorological Center, November in Yekaterinburg is expected to be abnormally warm — the average temperature will be more than one degree above the norm (the norm is −5.4 °C). Precipitation is forecast to be within the climatic norm — about 33 mm.
The Gismeteo service reports that there will be no significant frosts in the first half of November. Daytime temperatures will be +2…+4 °C, at night 0…-2 °C. The exception is November 3 and 4, when the air will cool to −4 °C, and at night possibly to −7 °C.
After November 16 a stable below-zero temperature will set in: daytime −2…−6 °C, nighttime −4…−8 °C. Precipitation is expected almost daily at the beginning of the month, mostly as wet snow, and in the second half of November snowfalls are possible on November 19–20, 22–23, 25–26 and 28–30.
A more moderate forecast was presented by AccuWeather specialists — according to them, snow in Yekaterinburg is possible only on November 1, 8, 10, 12 and 28–29, while the temperature figures match those from other sources.
Earlier, the author of the Telegram channel "Weather in Yekaterinburg," Alexey Pulin, noted that from November 2 the average daily temperature will drop below zero, marking the start of a true Ural winter.
