The regional court handed down a sentence to a man from Tagil who raped and killed his neighbor's daughter.
The Sverdlovsk Regional Court on Thursday, October 30, handed down a verdict against Vladimir Alexandrov, who in August last year in Nizhny Tagil killed his neighbor’s 11‑year‑old daughter.
The court sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment with confinement in a special‑regime penal colony, and also granted the victim’s civil claim — ordering the convict to pay 8 million rubles in compensation for moral damage, the joint press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts reports.
The girl disappeared at the end of August and, after three days of searching, was found strangled in the basement of a dormitory. Experts determined that she had been raped before the murder. A resident of the same dormitory, Vladimir Alexandrov, who abruptly left the city after the incident, was soon detained on suspicion of the crime.
During the investigation another crime committed by the detained Tagil resident came to light. In early August of the same year he lured a young woman to his home by deceit, committed a sexual offense against her and then held her in his room for a further four hours.
Both crimes were committed by Alexandrov while intoxicated.
The sentence will take legal effect in 15 days if it is not appealed by the parties.
