A young girl in the Sverdlovsk Region was injured after falling into a well. The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, A.I. Bastrykin, requested a report on the criminal case.
The incident occurred on Sovetskaya Street at about 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, in Nizhnyaya Tura.
A four-year-old girl fell into an unfenced sewer manhole that had not been closed by the service provider because of recurring utility emergencies, the regional investigative department of the agency reports.
A criminal case has been opened. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, requested a report on the progress and results of the investigation from the head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region, Bogdan Frantsishko. Compliance with the instruction has been placed under oversight by the agency’s central office.
The prosecutor’s office has launched an inquiry into the child’s fall into the well. According to the supervisory authority, the girl was walking with her brothers, born in 2015 and 2016. A passerby pulled her out of the well unaided. After receiving first aid at the Nizhnyaya Tura Central District Hospital, the injured child was released home.
The prosecutor’s office is currently determining who is responsible for maintaining the manhole. Information has been requested from the medical facility about the nature of the child’s injury in order to determine the severity of the harm caused to her health. In addition, based on the results of the city prosecutor’s office’s inquiry, the question will be considered of filing, in the interests of the minor, a lawsuit to recover moral and material damages.
