In Pervouralsk, a 15-year-old girl fell victim to scammers and transferred more than 488,000 rubles to them after a call from a fake nurse. Details of the incident were reported by the city department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the police, on the evening of November 3 the girl received a call via a messaging app from an unknown woman who introduced herself as a nurse from the college where the schoolgirl studies in Yekaterinburg. Under the pretext of verifying personal data, the caller asked her to provide the last four digits of the incoming phone number — the schoolgirl agreed and gave them.
Some time later another call came — this time from a woman who said she was an employee of the "Gosuslugi" portal. She claimed that fraudsters had allegedly gained access to the girl's personal account, and persuaded the teenager, "to avoid liability," to deposit cash onto a card and then transfer it via QR codes.
When the girl told her mother what had happened, the mother contacted the police. A criminal case has been opened on the charge of "fraud committed on a large scale."
