Asbestovsky City Court handed down a sentence to a local resident who was responsible for the deaths of two young children. The woman left her four- and five-year-old children unsupervised, and they accidentally started a fire in the apartment. The court sentenced Tatyana P. to 2.5 years' imprisonment in a penal colony-settlement, the united press service of the courts reported.

The woman fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse for her actions.
The tragedy occurred on the morning of July 28. The children found a gas lighter and set fire to some items. The fire spread rapidly, and the little ones were unable to get out of the apartment. The boy's body was found during firefighting efforts; the girl died later in intensive care. The mother was not at home at the time of the incident.
