A square named after Ilya Kormiltsev has been opened in Yekaterinburg.
The head of Yekaterinburg, Alexey Orlov, signed a decree assigning official names to a square and two alleys in the Oktyabrsky district located along Belinsky Street.
The green area from Dekabristov Street to house No. 83 on Belinsky is now officially called Ilya Kormiltsev Square. This location was not chosen by chance — nearby is the Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of UrFU, where the poet and musician studied.
The alley stretching from Dekabristov Street to Pavlik Morozov Park has been named after the outstanding figure of the mining-and-factory industry Anikita Yartsov. His biography is closely connected with the Polzunov College, the dormitory of which is located near this area.
Another green zone — the section along the Pavlik Morozov Garden to Kuybyshev Street — received the official name Alley of Student Front-Line Soldiers. Previously this name existed only unofficially. Trees planted here by female students of the former vocational school stand in memory of their classmates who went to the front and returned to their studies after the war.
