A new four-lane section of the highway to Tyumen has been opened in Sverdlovsk Oblast.
In Sverdlovsk Oblast, the Tyumen Tract has been reopened after a major overhaul.
On November 20, as part of construction of the M-12 “Vostok” highway, a new 17-kilometer section of the Yekaterinburg–Tyumen road was put into operation. Locals have long known it as the Bogdanovich bypass. This was reported by the region’s governor, Denis Pasler.
The four-lane highway, featuring four bridge structures and overpasses, will completely divert transit traffic away from the city — traffic used by motorists traveling from Yekaterinburg toward Tyumen and to the northern and eastern parts of the country. This will ease the street network, reduce congestion, lessen the burden on urban infrastructure, and help improve the environmental situation.
For drivers the new road will bring obvious benefits: travel times will be shorter, and driving will become safer and more comfortable.
The upgrade of the R-351 route is a key stage in creating the modern high-speed M-12 “Vostok” motorway. Reconstruction of sections toward Tyumen is currently underway. By 2026 the entire road between Yekaterinburg and Tyumen will be expanded to four lanes and incorporated into the M-12, which will connect Moscow, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and Russia’s northern regions.
