The Artemovsk court handed down a harsh sentence to former mayor Konstantin Trofimov.

Former head of Artemovsky Konstantin Trofimov has been found guilty of taking bribes. The Artemovsky City Court handed down the guilty verdict against the former head of the municipal district, the Telegram channel of the joint press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk Region reports.

The court found that while serving as mayor and simultaneously heading the administration of the municipal district, Trofimov systematically received money and other benefits from directors of municipal enterprises subordinate to him.

Thus, in the second half of 2022 Trofimov received from the director of the municipal unitary enterprise "ZOK named after P. Morozov" two large cash “contributions” totaling 3.9 million rubles. For this money he promised the businesswoman general protection and official connivance.

In the autumn of the same year the mayor accepted a bribe in the form of a water heater worth nearly 21,000 rubles and a service to install it for 2,000 rubles from the director of the municipal unitary enterprise "Management Company Our Home Artemovsky."

Konstantin Trofimov was charged under part 4, point “v” of part 5, and part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe in a large and in an especially large amount by the head of a local self-government body — note Uralweb).

During the trial Trofimov did not admit guilt, insisting on his innocence. However, the court found the prosecution’s evidence convincing and sentenced the defendant to 10 years in a strict-regime penal colony, with a fine of 3 million rubles, and deprived him of the right to hold positions in state service and in local self-government bodies for a period of 9 years.

In addition, the court confiscated to the state 3,900,000 rubles and the water heater received by the convicted person as bribes.

The sentence will enter into legal force within 15 days if not appealed by the parties.
