Another Orthodox monument has been unveiled in the Urals.
The sculptural composition "Cathedral of the Archistrategos Michael" was unveiled in Chelyabinsk with the participation of the region’s top officials and South Ural clergy.
The monument symbolizes the unity of our entire country and is a gift to the city from the founder of the Russian Copper Company, Igor Altushkin, who opened an entire sports quarter "Archangel Michael" in Yekaterinburg.
Archangel Michael, also Archistrategos Michael (which means "military commander"), is considered the chief fighter against the forces of evil and the defender of the faith.
The unveiling of the monument, which took place on November 21, was attended by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Ural Federal District, Artem Zhoga, and the governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, Alexey Teksler.
"Cathedral of the Archistrategos Michael" has become one of the tallest Orthodox monuments in Russia. The height of the sculptural composition is 17 meters.
For comparison, the height of the Rzhev Memorial is 25 meters (in addition, the soldier’s sculpture is installed on a 10-meter hill, which makes the monument even more grandiose).
And it is indeed the first monument in the country dedicated to the entire angelic host, reports the Telegram channel of the presidential plenipotentiary in the Ural Federal District.
Earlier in November, in Yekaterinburg, in the medical campus on Volgogradskaya Street, a monument to Saint Luke (Voyno‑Yasenetsky) was opened and consecrated.
