The Sverdlovsk Railway won the vote for the "Heritage of the Middle Urals" status.

      The Sverdlovsk Railway became the leader of the public vote to be awarded the status "Heritage of the Middle Urals." This was reported on its Telegram channel by the Department of Information Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region.

      The vote to confer the honorary status "Heritage of the Middle Urals" was held from August 1 to December 1 on the feedback platform of the Gosuslugi portal. The project is organized by the Public Chamber of the Sverdlovsk Region.

      The title "Heritage of the Middle Urals" is awarded to geographical features, organizations, cultural and sporting achievements, historical events and collectives that contribute to preserving traditions and promoting the achievements of the Urals.

      According to the results of the vote, in which more than 50,000 people took part, the Sverdlovsk Railway received the largest number of votes (5,962).

      Also among the top five were:

      Ural Federal University — 5,384 votes;

      Picturesque Blue Mountain — 4,650 votes;

      Dynamo Sports Complex — 4,615 votes;

      Monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov — 4,315 votes.

      "In 2025 the 'Heritage of the Middle Urals' contest was dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. It is not surprising that the Sverdlovsk Railway became the leader of the vote. Ural railway workers have always been an example of labor valor. During the war, the evacuation of millions of compatriots, industrial enterprises and cultural assets fell on their shoulders. Thousands of workers volunteered for the front, and women and teenagers took their places. Despite the harsh conditions, the team ensured the uninterrupted movement of trains," noted Denis Pasler, governor of the Sverdlovsk Region.

      Armored trains were an indispensable contribution of the Ural railway workers to the Victory. In total, nearly two dozen such "fortresses on wheels" were created on the Sverdlovsk Railway.

      The award ceremony for the contest winners traditionally takes place on the Sverdlovsk Region's birthday, January 17.
