The Ural Opera Ballet Theatre (also the Yekaterinburg State Theatre of Opera and Ballet) has received the national opera award "Onegin," the Department of Information Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region reports. The prestigious award (informally called the opera "Oscar") was won by the Ural company for the staging of Yefrem Podgayts’s "Alice Through the Looking‑Glass." The award ceremony took place on the historic stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. The Yekaterinburg theatre’s production was recognized as the best event for a children’s audience. Last year Ural Opera Ballet also received the "Onegin" for the children’s production "Thumbelina." Over the ten years of the Onegin award (this year’s was an anniversary edition), Sverdlovsk theatres have won eight "opera Oscars" in total: seven by the Opera and Ballet Theatre and one by the Musical Comedy Theatre. Most of the soloists and performers of the Opera Theatre (as well as of the Musical Comedy Theatre) are graduates of the Ural State Conservatory named after M. P. Mussorgsky, the region’s Department of Information Policy notes.
A preventive event for women with the participation of mammologists from the Sverdlovsk Regional Oncology Dispensary will take place on December 6 at the Veer Mall shopping center in Yekaterinburg, the Sverdlovsk Region Department of Information Policy reports.
Women under 40 will have the opportunity to have an ultrasound of the breasts. Those over 40 will be able to check their breast health with a mammogram.
"Since the beginning of 2025, 277,000 women in the Sverdlovsk region have already undergone mammography as part of medical screening. Thanks to this, about 490 cases of breast cancer have been detected, 78.6% of which were diagnosed at early stages," the region's information policy department said.
"I urge all women to have a mammogram annually, and I have one myself every year. It is important to remember that a simple examination saves many lives, helping to detect tumors at early, asymptomatic stages and treat them as effectively as possible," says Deputy Governor — Minister of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region Tatyana Savinova.
