A gardener from Nizhny Tagil killed and dismembered a friend while drunk.
In Nizhny Tagil last week a court sent local resident Oleg Laskin to a penal colony for the murder of a companion at a garden plot in June of this year. A routine drinking session ended in a grisly finale.
On the day off, June 12, two friends, Oleg Laskin and Valery Korepanov, were drinking at a garden plot in allotment garden No. 10 UVZ near Monzino station. When the men became intoxicated, Laskin refused to give Korepanov a lift — he did not want to drive while drunk.
Then, according to the investigation and the court, Korepanov grabbed a kitchen knife and began to threaten Laskin with murder. Laskin, taking the threat seriously, struck his opponent in the face, knocking him down, and wrested the knife from his hands; when Korepanov tried to run away, he stabbed him in the back.
To conceal the killing, Laskin dismembered his companion’s body with an electric chainsaw and a knife, threw the legs into a body of water, and hid the remaining parts in a forested area.
He was arrested six days later, the consolidated press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk Region reports. Valery Korepanov’s daughter, alarmed by her father’s disappearance, filed a report with the police.
The defendant Laskin fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse for what he had done. The Leninsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil found him guilty under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and sentenced him to nine and a half years in a high-security penal colony.
The sentence has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed.
