Temperatures will drop to −23°C in Sverdlovsk Oblast.
The thaw will be replaced by frosts in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Long-awaited snow will also fall.
According to the Ural Hydrometeorological Center, in the coming days a North Atlantic cyclone, moving off the Arctic coast, will descend into the central part of Siberia. Its frontal system, passing through the Urals, will bring snow of varying intensity — from light to moderate — and will form a persistent snow cover. Frosty continental air, pushed aside by the cyclone, will sweep in from the north.
— At first the previously weakened frost in the north of the Ural Federal District will intensify again, then cold air masses will pour down along the eastern slope of the Urals and move into the territory of Sverdlovsk Oblast. The intensification of the cold is expected to be short-lived: the lowest temperatures are forecast for the first days of next week — provisionally on the nights of December 8 and 9: in the south of the region -12…-17°C, in the north -18…-23°C.
Earlier, forecasters had said that the upcoming December in Sverdlovsk Oblast would be warm.
