A monument to Eduard Uspensky’s characters, Crocodile Gena and Cheburashka, is planned to be installed in Yekaterinburg. The initiative was put forward by Marat Gindullin, co‑organizer of the "Kyshtym Dwarf" festival, the EAN news agency reports.
For many years the project to install the sculpture has been stalled due to a lack of a sponsor. Even during Eduard Uspensky’s lifetime Marat Gindullin obtained his consent. A model of the sculpture is ready — the characters are playing chess.
Gindullin recalled his idea recently, on the birthday of the children’s writer Eduard Uspensky, EAN writes.
Now the designer of the model is looking for investors: producing the bronze sculpture will require at least three million rubles, the Telegram channel "SVET Yekaterinburg" writes.
The location for the future monument has not yet been chosen.
