The decree appointing Markov was signed by Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Denis Pasler. Ilya Markov began his new job on Monday, December 29, reports KP‑Yekaterinburg.
The post had been vacant since November, when Svetlana Uchaikina resigned as minister of culture. The reason given was that she had reached the maximum age for remaining in public service. She turned 65 (this is the maximum age for most public servants in Russia).
His age has not been disclosed, but since he graduated from the sound engineering faculty of the Ural State Conservatory named after Mussorgsky in 2005, he is not yet 45.
