Thermal complex "Baden-Baden" opened in the former Komsomoll shopping mall.

A thermal complex with a huge pool, Baden Land ("Badenlend"), from the company Baden Family has opened on the site of the former Komsomall shopping center in Yekaterinburg. The owner of Badenlend calls it one of the largest thermal complexes in the country and the first year-round indoor tropical resort in the Urals.

The opening of the baths took place on January 24. For the first visitors, according to Badenland, there was a 50% discount on admission. On the complex’s VKontakte page the organizers were literally inundated with all kinds of questions about opening hours, service prices and other details.

Baden Family’s website reports that the company applied for state co-financing for this project under the federal program "Sustainable Development of Domestic and Inbound Tourism, Creation and Development of Tourist Clusters."

"Under its terms, 70% of the project’s budget will be provided by bank loans, 30% by Baden Family’s own investments," the company said earlier. "The project is being implemented in accordance with the instructions of the acting governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Denis Pasler, aimed at actively attracting investment to the region."

Baden Land planned to occupy the entire shopping center, placing on the first floor, it is claimed, the largest thermal pool in the Urals, a spa on the second, a children’s park on the third, and apartments on the top two floors (all of which, Baden Family reports, have been sold).

The company told Kommersant‑Ural that Badenland is the first example in the region of a large-scale transformation of a classic shopping center into an "urban resort."
