The cause of the fire, which resulted in the death of a woman in a gun shop in Yekaterinburg, was an electric scooter. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region on its channel in MAX.
The message about the fire in the store, located on the first floor of a 4-story residential building on Siberian Tract in Yekaterinburg, was received by the fire service the day before, on March 19.
"On the first floor of the apartment building, the interior finishing of the store was on fire. The source of the fire was in an adjacent room of another retail outlet. It has been preliminarily established that the cause of the fire was the spontaneous ignition of the battery of the electric scooter," the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
During the firefighting, a woman was found without signs of life. The agency clarified that she died not from the fire, but from carbon monoxide poisoning and caustic smoke that filled the room in a matter of minutes.
Also, as a result of the fire, a man was injured, but he refused hospitalization. With the help of rescue devices, firefighters saved 4 people, and 10 people evacuated before the arrival of the firefighters. A total of 19 firefighters and 7 units of equipment fought the fire, which was extinguished in 44 minutes. The fire damaged the retail equipment, interior finishing, and office equipment of two stores.
