In Yekaterinburg, it was proposed to remove electric scooters from the city center and introduce a fee for their parking. This initiative was put forward by the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk region, Alexey Svalov, on OTV.
According to him, personal mobility devices should only be used where there is appropriate infrastructure—dedicated lanes and markings. In the city center, where sidewalks are narrow, there is no place for scooters.
Svalov noted that infrastructure development could be funded by kick-sharing companies. If they are required to pay for parking, the budget could receive about 112 million rubles with a fleet of 16,000 scooters.
