In the "Molly" bar in the center of Yekaterinburg, fraudsters were deceiving men on dates. A group of individuals rented a space on Ural Street for a month to trick men who met girls on websites, reports "Channel 4" in MAX.
A raid at Molly was conducted by operatives of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Yekaterinburg, together with the voluntary people's squad "Russian Community."
The scam scheme was simple: girls from dating sites lured young men to this establishment, where they then presented them with a bill for drinks amounting to a sum comparable to a monthly salary.
"The establishment's task was to extract money from trusting guys. From one check - 36,000 rubles. There was a non-alcoholic soda, for which you had to pay 5,200 rubles for a glass. Beer - the cheapest brew. Minimum investment, maximum profit," quotes the channel Dmitry Chukreev, a member of the Public Chamber of Yekaterinburg.
As reported by the deceived themselves, the drink priced at 5,200 rubles for 250 ml was most often ordered by the girls, and they drank about 10 glasses, resulting in astronomical bills. They also brought fruit plates, for which they could charge 4,000 rubles. "The real price is 300 rubles," transmits "KP-Yekaterinburg" the words of Chukreev.
In the fryer in the kitchen, inspectors found oil that was black from repeated use. Products without labeling were stored in conditions of general unsanitary.
The owner of the bar, Artyom, told a journalist from "Channel 4" that he was unaware of the scheme being used in the establishment. "Meanwhile, in the bartenders' book, there were notes: 'do not confuse guests,' meaning ordinary visitors and those being scammed," writes "Channel 4."
"They asked to rent part of the hall for events. They said they had their own guests, they just needed to hold some meetings. I need a legal entity, we will try to work. I heard that we have our guests, with whom they do not intersect at all, and they should work with their guests. I was not aware of the scheme," says the bar owner.
The alcohol sold in the establishment was confiscated. As it turned out, the bar did not have a license to sell alcohol. It will not operate until the results of the examination are available.
