In Yekaterinburg, traffic police officers are conducting a preventive event called "Stop Control" from May 1 to May 4, reports the department's propaganda division.
The preventive event "Stop Control" is aimed at identifying and suppressing serious violations of traffic rules, including detecting drivers on the road who are in a state of intoxication, those who have had their driving licenses revoked, or those who do not have a license at all.
For driving a vehicle while intoxicated, administrative responsibility is provided in the form of a license suspension for up to two years and a fine of 45,000 rubles.
For repeated violations, criminal liability comes into play under Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The latter provides for imprisonment for up to two years, a fine ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 rubles, and a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years.
The traffic police of Yekaterinburg urge witnesses to promptly report drunk drivers by calling 02 or 112.
