As Tatyana recounted on her page on VKontakte, she and her son, who has been diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder), were sitting in the restaurant when two not entirely sober patrons began to harass them. They didn’t like the way her son was looking at them.
According to Khizhnyakova, upon learning that he had a first-group disability, the men stated that "disabled people and idiots" had no place in the restaurant. They also showed their IDs and claimed to be police officers.
The restaurant staff on Akademika Parina Street, 41 called the GBR and the police, but only the former arrived. Later, when Tatyana went to Frunze Street, 74 to file a complaint against the offenders, she saw them there in person.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Yekaterinburg told 66.RU that only one officer was involved in the conflict. They promised to give the incident "the strictest assessment" following the results of the internal investigation.
