The State Traffic Inspectorate of Yekaterinburg checked scooter riders: 70 violations in 2 hours.
Last night in the center of Yekaterinburg, the traffic police conducted a preventive raid aimed at identifying and suppressing traffic violations by citizens using personal mobility devices.
The raid took place in the area of recently installed signs 3.35 "Movement on personal mobility devices is prohibited." In addition, police officers paid attention to violations such as crossing the roadway on bicycles and personal mobility devices (PMDs), pedestrian crossing rules, and compliance with traffic light signals.
Particular attention was paid to minors using rented electric scooters in violation of the ban.
The event demonstrated that most citizens using PMDs disregard not only the requirements of road signs but also basic safety measures. For instance, right in front of the inspectors, a young man crossed the roadway on a rented electric scooter without dismounting. He narrowly avoided being hit by a car. After being stopped by a police officer, the violator began to deny his guilt and then, in addition, tried to mislead the inspectors about his age. Ultimately, the scooter rider admitted that he was not yet 18 years old. He was taken to the local police department, where his parents were called.
A total of 70 various violations were identified during the raid, the overwhelming majority of which (52) were committed by electric scooter riders.
The police remind that when approaching a pedestrian crossing on a PMD, it is necessary to dismount, ensure safety, and only then cross the roadway.
Movement of personal mobility devices is also prohibited in the area of signs 3.35 "Movement on personal mobility devices is prohibited."
For violating traffic rules, administrative liability is provided under part 2 of article 12.29 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation in the form of an administrative fine of 800 rubles. In addition, for violations of the rental agreement, representatives of kick-sharing companies may also impose fines, for example, for riding on a PMD with two people - 5 thousand rubles, for transferring control of a PMD to a minor - 10 thousand rubles.
