New interchanges will be built on the MKAD.
The reconstruction of the EKAD between the Tyumensky and Rezhevsky highways is ongoing. Work is being carried out on the section from the 10th to the 24th kilometer and is expected to be completed by 2028. This was reported by the governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Denis Pasler.
The project includes the expansion of the highway to six lanes, the reconstruction of three overpasses, and the construction of three new interchanges — with Vysotsky Street, the Berezovsky Highway, and the Yekaterinburg — Rezh — Alapaevsk road. The first three-level interchange in the Sverdlovsk region will appear at the intersection with the Berezovsky Highway.
In 2026, the authorities expect to open full traffic on six lanes over a section of 2.6 kilometers.
Currently, on the segment between Vysotsky Street and the Berezovsky Highway, one kilometer of new lanes has already been put into operation. At the 10th kilometer, traffic has also been shifted to the updated part of the road, and construction of three more lanes in the opposite direction is ongoing.
At the 12th kilometer, a new overpass is being built over the heating networks. At the interchange with the road to the Novosverdlovsk CHPP, the contractor is installing bored piles for the new overpass.
In addition, near the intersection of the EKAD with the Yekaterinburg — Tyumen highway, the construction of an overhead pedestrian crossing is continuing. Its readiness is estimated at 80%. The crossing will be equipped with vertical lifts for people with limited mobility, as well as video surveillance and lighting systems.
For the work to be carried out in 2026, 4.7 billion rubles have been allocated from the regional budget.
