In Yekaterinburg, a way has been devised to impose fines on scooter riders en masse.
In Yekaterinburg, violators on scooters have begun to be identified using a neural network. As reported by the Telegram channel "Yekaterinburg Main," the authorities of Yekaterinburg are testing a new software complex based on a neural network that allows for the automatic recording of traffic rule violations by electric scooter users through city surveillance cameras. During the testing of the system, from May 18 to June 2, the neural network analyzed crossings at 10 city intersections and recorded about 14,900 cases of scooter riders crossing pedestrian crossings. According to monitoring data, most users ignored the requirement to dismount before crossing the road. Out of the 14,900 recorded crossings, in 13,200 cases, scooter riders crossed the "zebra" without getting off the vehicle. Another 357 violations were related to riding two people on one scooter. Only 892 users followed the rules and crossed the pedestrian crossing on foot. The city administration notes that the testing results indicate a high level of violations among users of individual mobility devices. Authorities pay special attention to rental electric scooters: according to the system developers' estimates, about 80% of identified violations are attributed to users of kick-sharing services.
