"Was there a boy?" In Yekaterinburg, a woman received benefits for four years for a non-existent child.
In Yekaterinburg, the prosecutor's office has sent a criminal case to court against a 39-year-old resident of the Chelyabinsk region, accused of fraud in obtaining social payments for a non-existent child. This was reported on Tuesday by the prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region.
According to the investigation, in 2021, the accused provided deliberately false information about the birth of a child to the civil registry office, as a result of which a birth certificate was issued for a non-existent boy.
Subsequently, based on this document, the woman repeatedly applied for various benefits and social payments.
From 2021 to 2025, by providing deliberately false information, she received: a one-time payment for the birth of a child, a monthly allowance for child care, a monthly allowance related to the birth and upbringing of a child, a one-time payment for a woman who gave birth to a third or subsequent child, and other payments.
As a result of her illegal actions, the accused, under part 3 of article 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in obtaining payments in a large amount), embezzled over 874 thousand rubles.
The criminal case will be heard by the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg.
