The festival of mining cuisine will take place at the Old Demidov Factory.
The venue for the festival of mining factory cuisine "FACTORY PIES" will be the eco-industrial park "Old Demidov Factory" in Nizhny Tagil on August 8, the organizers reported. Renowned chefs will come to the Ural city to participate in it.
Mining factory cuisine is a unique gastronomic culture that emerged among the workers of Ural factories in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the harsh climate and under heavy labor conditions, traditions of preparing simple and hearty dishes from seasonal products developed, combining elements of Russian, Tatar, Bashkir, Udmurt, and other cuisines.
"Pies are one of the main festive dishes of the residents of industrial Ural cities. They were always prepared for family gatherings and religious holidays," the organizers explain the choice of name for the gastronomic event. "Where else to taste the dishes that workers ate 100-200 years ago, if not among the Demidov factory workshops and large historical equipment?"
Here, one can get acquainted with the history of mining factory cuisine and its modern variations, as well as see how these dishes are prepared by renowned chefs from Moscow and Nizhny Tagil.
The festival will feature master class zones for adults and children, a food court, a lecture hall, a farmers' market, and a shop of Ural craftsmen.
The festival of mining factory cuisine "FACTORY PIES" will take place in Nizhny Tagil at Lenin, 1 "B" (eco-industrial technopark "Old Demidov Factory") on August 8 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
