On July 3, 2026, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court will consider the appeals filed against the sentence of former editor of "URA.RU" Denis Allayarov.
Appeals have been submitted by the convicted journalist himself, his lawyer, as well as an appeal from the prosecutor. The date and time for the hearing have not yet been scheduled. "The Allayarov case has been received and registered. It is likely that today a special program will select the judge who will hear the case. The judge will probably set the date on Monday," the court's press service told the EAN agency.
Recall that the sentence for the former deputy chief editor - regional editor of LLC "Siberian-Ural Media Company" (the legal entity of the news agency "URA.RU") Denis Allayarov was 5 years in a general regime colony and a fine of 1.2 million rubles, as well as a ban on engaging in journalistic activities for 4 years, issued on April 21, 2026, by the Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg. Allayarov was charged under part 3 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribery of an official for committing knowingly illegal actions).
"It has been established that the journalist, for ten months, on a paid basis, acquired operational reports from the police department of Yekaterinburg from his uncle, a police officer, for subsequent publication of the information contained in them. The total amount of the bribe was 120 thousand rubles. During the court proceedings, the defendant fully admitted his guilt," the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts reported on Friday.
