A small child was injured in an accident that occurred today, July 21, on Green Island (VIZ-Right Bank microdistrict). The traffic accident happened around 9 a.m. on Vodonasonaya Street, opposite house No. 15, reported the propaganda department of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia in Yekaterinburg. According to preliminary data, the driver of a VAZ-2108, moving along Bolshoy Kony Peninsula Street from the side of Malyy Kony Peninsula Street towards Vodonasonaya Street, collided with a Toyota Vitz that had stopped to let oncoming traffic pass.
As a result of the accident, a passenger in the Toyota Vitz—a one-and-a-half-year-old child—was injured. He was hospitalized with injuries by an ambulance team to DMB No. 9. The child was transported without violating traffic rules—he was in a car seat and was secured with a five-point seatbelt. Thanks to this, serious consequences for his health were avoided.
It has been established that the driver of the VAZ-2108 was a 21-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg with 3 years of driving experience. He had previously been held administratively responsible 11 times for traffic violations. During the investigation, it was found that he was driving the vehicle without a valid insurance policy, for which an administrative case was initiated against the driver under part 2 of article 12.37 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation.
The Toyota Vitz was driven by a 31-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg. She has 5 years of driving experience and has been held administratively responsible for traffic violations twice.
Testing showed that both drivers were sober.
