Details of the assassination attempt near Yekaterinburg on the creator of the FPV drone "Upyr" have become known.

      The general director of the company "Ural Drone Factory" - the creator of the drone "Upyr" Vladimir Tkachuk did not manage to get into the car, which was blown up, resulting in the death of his driver. This was reported to RIA Novosti by operational services.

      The explosion of the Mercedes car occurred in the village of Bolshoy Istok in the Sysert district of the Sverdlovsk region on Tuesday evening, August 4, RIA Novosti reports. The driver died on the spot, and the general director of "Ural Drone Factory" Tkachuk was taken to intensive care.

      A criminal case has been initiated for attempted murder by dangerous means (part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

      "Upyr" was developed by a team from the FPV drone manufacturing company "Ural Drone Factory" and was tested in combat operations in 2023. In 2024, with its help, the first Abrams tank was destroyed in the special military operation. "Since then, this UAV has been used by many ace UAV operators," reports URALLIVE.

      The modified "Upyr-18" is capable of carrying a 10-kilogram mine for tens of kilometers to hit fortified bunkers and enemy positions.
