The chief of staff of the "Center" grouping, Denis Lyamin, will lead the unmanned systems troops
On August 6, 2026, the unmanned systems troops of the Russian Federation will be headed by the chief of staff of the "Center" grouping, Denis Lyamin, announced Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported the day before by RIA Novosti. On Wednesday, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief made personnel changes in the leadership of the groupings in the special operation zone.
"It is well known that a decision has been made to create a new type of troops - unmanned systems troops. The task was to find a person who has proven himself in this work in the best possible way.
So, one of the most qualified specialists in this field is Denis Igorevich Lyamin, who has been fighting in the "Center" grouping as chief of staff until now," Putin said at a meeting with the leadership of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The head of state expressed hope that Lyamin would complete the formation of the new type of troops.
Colonel General Denis Lyamin, while still commanding the 58th Army, was not afraid to actively implement and use unmanned aerial vehicles, and then develop the theory and practice of delivering effective strikes with them, said Alexey Leonkov, a well-known Russian military expert and military analyst for the magazine "Our Defense," to RIA Novosti.
According to Leonkov, "at the very beginning of the special military operation, Lyamin distinguished himself during the capture of Kherson." "The city was entered very quickly, and this was his merit. He also acted competently and promptly during the liberation of Avdiivka," the expert added.
The president proposed Colonel General Andrey Ivanaev to head the "Center" grouping.
"The 'Center' grouping is one of our leading units, solving the most important and responsible tasks for the liberation of the Donetsk People's Republic," noted Vladimir Putin.
At the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, all rear services will be concentrated in one hand. This direction is headed by Colonel General Valery Solodchuk.
Under his command, the fighters of the "Center" took control of Krasnoarmeysk and Dimitrov in the DPR, and also made significant progress in the Dobropillya direction. Solodchuk also led operations in the Kharkiv direction and was responsible for the liberation of the Kursk region.
Lieutenant General Petr Bolgarev will become the acting commander of the "East" grouping.
During the service of Ivanaev and Bolgarev in the "East" grouping, its fighters liberated Velikaya Novoselka in the DPR and Gulyaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region, as well as expanded the security zone in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Earlier in 2024, a participant in the battles for the liberation of Avdiivka, who left for the special military operation from the Sverdlovsk region, shared his experience on the pages of Uralweb.ru.
