A young woman from Yekaterinburg narrowly escaped death in a traffic accident involving a drunk driver near the city of Zarechny. The driver was her acquaintance.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, August 11, at 23:05 in the territory of the Beloyarsky district, reported the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
According to preliminary data, a 26-year-old driver of an Opel Astra, traveling from Yekaterinburg towards Tyumen, failed to maintain constant control of the road situation and collided with concrete slabs of the "Construction and Reconstruction of Sections of the R-351 Yekaterinburg - Tyumen" road project.
As a result of the accident, a passenger of the same vehicle, a 26-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg, was hospitalized with injuries of varying severity at the hospital in the city of Asbest.
The driver and passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
According to the results of the examination, the driver was found to be in a state of alcohol intoxication - the concentration of ethyl alcohol vapors in the exhaled air was 0.280 mg/l.
It was established that the man is a resident of Sukhoi Log and has 7 years of driving experience. He had previously been held administratively responsible for traffic violations 84 (!) times.
During the questioning, the driver explained that he had consumed alcoholic beverages at home before going to the store. The accident occurred on the way back. The man did not notice the concrete slabs in time. Emergency braking did not help avoid the collision.
Regarding the driver, decisions have been made to initiate administrative offense cases under part 1 of article 12.8 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle while intoxicated), part 2 of article 12.24 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (traffic violation resulting in harm to the health of the victim), article 12.6 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (violation of seatbelt use rules), and part 1 of article 12.16 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with requirements prescribed by road signs or markings).
An investigation into the accident is underway. The vehicle has been placed in a specialized parking lot.
