The deputy prosecutor of one of the districts of Yekaterinburg was caught mediating in a bribe.
The Lenin District Court of Yekaterinburg has arrested the Deputy Prosecutor of the Railway District of the Ural capital, Mikhail Anikin, on charges of mediating in bribery, reports the unified press service of the courts of the Sverdlovsk region.
According to the investigation, Deputy Prosecutor Mikhail Anikin acted as an intermediary in the transfer of a bribe to employees of the Federal Tax Service from a business representative.
The bribe was intended for the tax officials to make a decision to refuse to hold the enterprise accountable for committing a tax offense.
The preliminary investigation authorities have charged Anikin under Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediation in bribery committed on a particularly large scale).
The court granted the investigator's request to impose a preventive measure on Mikhail Anikin in the form of detention until October 12, 2026, inclusive. The court's ruling will come into legal force in 3 days if not appealed.
