The gynecologist of City Hospital No. 1, who mutilated the reproductive system of a Yekaterinburg woman, escaped punishment.
On August 20, 2026, in Yekaterinburg, a verdict was delivered on Thursday, August 20, against a gynecologist from one of the city’s clinical hospitals, accused of causing serious harm to a patient’s health through negligence. Spoiler: the accused, Fidan Nasibova, managed to avoid punishment.
Here is the summary of the criminal case as presented by the press service of the judicial authorities. "According to the investigation, in May 2022, the doctor removed the right fallopian tube during surgery for medical reasons. However, after confirming that the left tube was healthy, the specialist, without justification, severed it with a surgical instrument. As a result of the intervention, the patient lost the ability to conceive naturally, which is classified as serious harm to health. To conceal what had happened, the doctor entered false information into the operation protocol regarding the absence of pathologies. The woman only learned of the incident a year later during an examination at another clinic," the message from the united press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts states.
The charge against gynecologist Fidan Nasibova from Central City Hospital No. 1 was brought under part 1 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional causing of serious harm to health, dangerous to life or resulting in loss of sight, speech, hearing, organ, interruption of pregnancy, or permanent disfigurement of the face - note from Uralweb.ru).
However, during the court proceedings, the prosecution was unable to prove the doctor's guilt in the intent to cause harm to health. The accused did not admit her guilt during the trial.
The Oktyabrsky District Court of Yekaterinburg found her guilty of committing a crime under part 2 of article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - "Causing serious harm to the health of the victim through negligence due to improper performance of one's professional duties" and imposed a sentence of 2 years of restriction of freedom with deprivation of the right to engage in medical activities for 1 year.
The convicted person was released from the imposed sentence based on paragraph 3 of part 1 of article 24 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation - due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution. The verdict has not entered into legal force and may be appealed by the parties in the manner prescribed by law.
The state prosecution requested a sentence of 1.5 years of imprisonment for the doctor, reports "KP-Yekaterinburg."
Let us remind you that the court began to consider the criminal case of Fidan Nasibova back in February. The victim is a resident of Yekaterinburg, Elena P., who, at the age of 42, learned during pregnancy planning that during a previously performed gynecological operation at Central City Hospital No. 1, a healthy organ had been severed.
