New restrictions have been imposed on the Yekaterinburg - Tyumen highway due to flooding.
Traffic restrictions have been introduced on two sections of the Yekaterinburg - Tyumen highway due to the repair of the road surface damaged as a result of flooding. The Uralavtodor clarified that the work is expected to be completed by November 1.
Traffic on the problematic sections is organized in two lanes (one in each direction) instead of four. At the 207th kilometer of the highway, specialists have dismantled the shoulder, completed work on the earthworks and foundation. Since August 20, the laying of an organic-mineral mixture has been underway, reports the EAN publication.
At the 196th kilometer, milling of access roads has been carried out for the subsequent dismantling of the earthworks. The contracting organization is awaiting the arrival of equipment necessary for the construction of a retaining wall to prevent landslides of the roadway embankment.
The damage to the road section occurred on July 11 in the Talitsky district against the backdrop of heavy rains. At that time, the washing away of the dam was recorded, which led to an increase in the water level in the Kokuy reservoir. The flow of water washed away the earthen embankment of the culvert, resulting in the destruction of the road section.
Emergency recovery work allowed traffic to resume on the highway as early as July 13. A speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour was introduced on the section. The current repairs are aimed at fully restoring the regulatory condition of the road surface.
It was previously reported when the M-12 highway from Yekaterinburg to Tyumen will be opened.
