Bastrikin demanded an explanation as to why the attacker of a 9-year-old schoolboy in Asbest has not been identified.

      The head of the department, Alexander Bastrykin, has requested a report on the criminal case regarding the attack on a minor in Asbest, reports the "Investigative Committee" channel.

      "According to media reports, several months ago in Asbest, Sverdlovsk region, an unknown person attacked a 9-year-old boy. According to the father of the victim, the police were unable to identify the attacker. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the head of the Investigative Department for Sverdlovsk region, Francishko B.V., to present a report on the progress of the investigation and the established circumstances," the press service of the Investigative Committee stated.

      The attack occurred on April 10 on Mira Street in Asbest. As reported by the E1.RU portal, on that day, the second grader decided to go home a different way. When he was passing by the garages, an unknown person approached him from behind, grabbed him by the neck, and began to strangle him. The child managed to break free by elbowing the attacker. The boy described the assailant as a person in a mask and black clothing.

      "Based on this fact, the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Sverdlovsk region are investigating a criminal case," the statement from the Investigative Committee of Russia indicated.

      However, the boy's father told E1.RU that this only happened after he appealed to the prosecutor's office, the FSB, and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a complaint about the refusal to initiate a criminal case by the Asbest police, who were unable to identify the attacker "on hot trails."
