More than 400,000 rubles were recovered from the owners of the Rottweiler that attacked a mother and her child in Shirokaya Rechka.
The Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg issued a decision on the lawsuit filed by Yekaterinburg resident Nadezhda, who was injured at the end of February at Shirokaya Rechka by a neighbor’s Rottweiler. The hearing took place today, September 5, reports "KP-Yekaterinburg."
The plaintiff sought compensation for moral damages from the dog’s owners, which she estimated at 735,000 rubles, the publication writes. According to Nadezhda, she wants to ensure that those who let such a dog roam unsupervised don’t get off with a fine of 3,000 rubles.
Two neighbors and a psychologist who provided emergency assistance to Nadezhda’s five-year-old son came to court as witnesses. “The boy kept asking, ‘Isn’t the black dog coming? Has the black dog gone? Where is the black dog?’” educational psychologist Tatyana Shakhmatova told the court.
The dog’s owners did not attend the hearing. Their representative argued that the claim should be dismissed because the dog owners had already paid Nadezhda 100,000 rubles, writes "KP-Yekaterinburg."
Ultimately the court partially granted the claim, awarding the plaintiffs 416,000 rubles from the defendants as reimbursement for medical expenses and compensation for moral damage.
Recall that the black Rottweiler attacked Nadezhda while she was walking with her child. The mother shielded her son with her own body. The dog, as if stalking its prey, did not leave the woman’s side, even when bystanders came to the family’s aid. In court Nadezhda said that the dog still walks around Shirokaya Rechka — on a leash, but without a muzzle.
