The Yekaterinburg administration approved the project for a tram line to Zavokzalny.

Yekaterinburg Mayor Aleksey Orlov approved a planning project for the Zarechny area that includes laying a new tram line. The project concerns the block bounded by Chelyuskintsev Street, Geroev Rossii Street, Proizvodstvenny Lane, Kimovskaya Street and Beringa Street.

According to the EAN publication, a 1.7-kilometre tram line will be built along Geroev Rossii Street. It will connect the railway station district and Zarechny. The total area of the block to be developed is 50 hectares. Multi-storey residential buildings are planned to be erected here, with a combined residential area of more than 500,000 square metres.

Parking spaces will be organized for residents. The total parking capacity will be 3,600 spaces. Under the project, a children’s educational centre will be built between Gotvald Street and Mashinistov Street, combining preschool and general education functions. The centre will be able to accommodate 350 preschool children and 1,500 pupils in general education classes. In one of the blocks the developer plans to create a green zone of more than one hectare, which will connect Beringa, Geroev Rossii and Chelyuskintsev streets.

Earlier it was reported that a tram factory is planned to be built in Yekaterinburg.
