A criminal case has been opened in Verkhnyaya Pyshma after a language-proficiency exam for a Russian girl.
The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, requested a report on a criminal case concerning the violation in Sverdlovsk Oblast of the rights of a Russian-speaking family that arrived in Russia to live permanently under the compatriots’ resettlement program.
As reported on social media, the family with a child arrived for permanent residence in Verkhnyaya Pyshma in July as part of the state program for the resettlement of compatriots from Kazakhstan.
At the same time, the girl, who speaks Russian and had been studying in a Russian-language program, was denied enrollment in a general education school due to a requirement to take an entrance exam for migrants. While awaiting testing the child did not attend school; numerous appeals by the parents to various authorities produced no results.
In connection with this, the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Sverdlovsk Oblast has opened a criminal case under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (negligence).
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, requested from the head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for Sverdlovsk Oblast, Bogdan Frantsishko, a report on the circumstances established during the initial investigative actions and, upon completion of the investigation, on its results. The execution of the instruction has been placed under the control of the agency’s central office.
