There will no longer be a weekend farmers' market on Yekaterinburg's main square.

This year there will be no traditional weekend agricultural markets on 1905 Square in Yekaterinburg. The mayor’s office told KP‑Yekaterinburg.

“We decided that the main square is not intended for such events. There will still be markets through the end of the year, but in other districts of Yekaterinburg,” the city administration explained.

Previously the market, where residents could buy agricultural produce, sweets and household goods directly from the producer, traditionally ran from autumn through spring on 1905 Square. But last winter the spot was used as an ice rink.

It was reported that parking on the square will be restored after September 29, once the “Summer on the Square” festival ends. And in winter, from December through March, there will probably be a rink there again.
