The shopping center in Yekaterinburg had its second phase canceled.
In Yekaterinburg, a decision has been made to complete a 16‑storey unfinished building next to the Megapolis shopping center and, by 2027–early 2028, turn it into a business center or an aparthotel complex. The initiative was taken by the owners of the premises, URA.RU was told by Eduard Demyanov, chairman of the construction cooperative “Megapolis Business Center — Second Phase.”
“We set the goal of completing the project by 2027, at the latest by the first quarter of 2028. Seventy‑seven premises’ owners are participating in the implementation,” he clarified.
According to Demyanov, the entrepreneurs tried to involve the Territorial Development Fund in completing the construction, but were turned down because the fund deals exclusively with residential projects. Initially the building was conceived as the second phase of the Megapolis shopping center. However, that option is no longer being considered.
“From a legal point of view a second phase does not exist, and the name also has a negative connotation,” Demyanov noted.
The owners of the premises intend to choose a new name for the complex. At the same time, the building is not at risk of demolition — its preservation has been confirmed by court rulings.
