Sverdlovsk Oblast will be hit by a geomagnetic storm caused by a coronal hole on the Sun.
A geomagnetic storm is expected in the Sverdlovsk region on October 12 and 13, which may be caused by a coronal hole on the surface of the Sun. This was reported by specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS).
"The new coronal hole is expected to begin affecting Earth as early as Sunday. Streams of fast solar wind will be felt for roughly two days — through Tuesday inclusive," the laboratory said on Telegram.
According to scientists' forecasts, the storm's intensity will reach G1, which corresponds to weak geomagnetic activity. The probability of disturbances occurring on October 12 is estimated at 60%.
Thus, last night the northern lights appeared again in the sky over the Sverdlovsk region.
