A Sverdlovsk deputy mayor was arrested for taking a large bribe.
The court arrested former deputy mayor of Rezh, Alexander Kachurin, a few days after the mayoral election. The official was dismissed and charged with receiving a large bribe, the regional prosecutor’s press service reported.
"The Rezh City Court ordered, as a preventive measure in relation to the accused, detention in custody for two months — until January 22, 2026," the prosecutor’s office noted.
Kachurin is charged under the article "An official's personal receipt of a large monetary bribe."
A few days ago, on November 19, mayoral elections were held in Rezh. According to the deputies' vote, Evgeny Chepchugov, who had been serving as acting head since July, became mayor, Ura.Ru specifies.
